Hi Gene,

Thanks for this tutorial, I've really enjoyed this one - here are a couple I made.

I also had a go at making a wife for the boys, but she might scare them a little until they get used to her!

Thumbs up Re: A Beginners Tutorial On Carving A Simple Hillbilly Out Of A Block Of Wood

Thanks for doing this, Gene. I'm giving it a go at the minute. Although the more I work the more it's becoming different from the pattern! So far he looks like he'll be a stouter little lad than yours with a much squatter hat.

Hi Gene,

Watched the Youtube last night. Nice job. The speed with which you make your cuts is great. Got some good ideas and some confidence to try more. I am a teacher too. I wondered how critically you watched your own piece, noticing all the things you wished you had done differently. I am sure you will catch more than I would. No air conditioner the next time though - make it easier to hear you.
Thanks for the story about your wife. Makes your "God Bless" at the end of some of your comments that much more real for me. Look forward to more good stuff and more contact.

Shalom,

John
