Question Bird in door glass

In a mag. far far back was a story about carving a Blue jay in two pices & then putting rair earth mags. in each 1/2 then putting the bird on the door glass-1/2 inside& 1/2 outside. Doz any body know what issue,what month,what year??????? jest a nueby "tlmanmc"
