Here are some pictures of a dove which is nesting in our pomegranite tree next to the patio. The first 5 were taken on April 9.

Those are some excellent pics. of the dove. I'm sure they build the worst nests of any in the bird world. We used to have some build close to our cabin in Saskachewan and they reminded me of the "Pick up sticks" we used to play when we were kids. Reg |

YTou are right, they build the worst nests possible lol, if you call a dozen twigs a nest! They are beautiful little birds and we hate to see the babies dead on our place, so I took some wire strainers I got at a local store cheap, cut the handles off and wired them in several trees, they always seem to nest in the same areas, they used them and being tied down, the wind didn't blow them and the babies out! I am looking for a feather pattern for a mourning dove. I have the basic pose resting all roughed out and want to start carving in detail. Can anyone help with a pattern? |
