| | Re: Workstation designs...any ideas?? You mean I'm supposed to be SANE when I do this??????? ...LOL. Well, for the time being, I'm going to have to work with the bench I have now...but I'm getting a lot of good ideas from people on here & other people I know who do woodworking. Unfortunately, I don't know any wood CARVERS & have yet to go to a carving class or carving club in my area to see what it's all about. I work nights, so, finding a class or club that's 3rd shift friendly isn't so easy. Maybe the class or classes will come into play after I get back from vacation in Alaska next summer. I'll be able to do something about the bench before that though...I hope.....Gotta find a seat to plant my carcass in, too.

I was looking at your workstation in photo HPIM1289 and thinking "Jeez, it doesn't look very sturdy." until I saw how and what you had it anchored to!
My goodness! did you bring that block of stone in with forklift?! :-)
What a great set up!

the granite block weighed over 200lbs, it was the first base I tried with the stand but it wasn't as stable as what I have now. What i use now is a multi layer plywood base (8 total) that the stand is bolted to, plus my weight and its rock solid | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
