Default Two Woodcarving Books

I have many woodcarving books and I enjoyed that post a while back that ask “how many woodcarving books do you have”. These two books are my favorites and approach the art in different directions. The modern book of whittling and woodcarving by E.J. Tangerman is the spiral bound I got it as a gift in 1973. Sculpture in wood by John Rood was a gift in 1970. Do any of our members have one or both of the books and what do you think?

I am a little disappointed that none of the few members that looked don’t have either book or don’t want to talk about the books. I guess its like your favorite movie.

Hi Don,
I don't have either one of those books. They both might have to go on my "find and read this" list.

My two favorites are pictured here:

I have the book on the right by tangerman. Mine is a little waterlogged. I have done quite a few projects from it especially the smaller ones also reduced the seaman to two inches and did him. A nice book to read and lots of patterns.
The local library had water in the basement and this is one that got wet so they saved it for me. I often give them one of my small carvings and I have been rewarded many times over with magazines and books that are going to be tossed
