Default Mt Vernon round barn and log cabin

After seeing the thread about the round stone barn I thought maybe someone could use these to incorporate into a pattern. I took the photos and anyone who wants to is free to download them and use them. Hope they can be of use to someone. After seeing the round stone barn I got to thinking about trying a relief carving using some of my photos. I will have to look and if I find more I will post them.

This round barn was designed by George Washington and according to the folks there at Mt Vernon who were explaining it, this is the only one like it. It was used for separating the grain from the stalk. there is a round area inside where the sheaves of grain were stored and the area outside of that round area and inside the outer wall of the barn is where the grain is laid down in a particular way. Then horses are led into this outer track area and and walked around on top of the grain. This caused the wheat to fall down between the cracks in the floor to the area below where it was scooped up and stored. Not sure if I explained that very well or not. They had a demonstration to show how it was done. Seemed like it worked pretty well but I wanted to ask what they did when other "stuff" that the horses dropped got mixed up with the grain....lol. Not sure if that enhanced the flavor of the bread made with that wheat or not....8)
