Default Indians

I know in the past several of you were looking for pictures and references to Indians.Over the past several weeks this book kept showing up at my usual Sat. night visits to local bookstores. This isn't my usual topic,,but I just couldn't help myself and had to buy it. Many might be familiar with the book or author,,but the photo's ,,the details,,the character in these faces I just couldn't resist and found them so compelling. I have seen it at both B&N as well as Borders on the discount rack. It listed for $35.00,,but I got it for $9.99. They had quite a few copies left,,as well as 4-5 other books on the same subject,,all on clearance.I've included a few pics to whet your appetite. The book is a large coffee table size,,written by Curtis,,and is called the Great Warriors.Might be old news to many of you,,but I thought it might be of interest.

Hi Mark,
I had to remove your attachments. It's a violation of the publisher's copyright for you to photograph pages from the book and post them online without the publisher's permission...
As someone in the publishing industry, I'm afraid I can't allow it. We would take action against another entity that photographed pages from out books and posted them online...

But the book is a GREAT reference. Those photos are AWSOME!

And I'm not going to leave people empty handed...here is a link to the some of Curtis' photos

Sorry Bob,,my intentions were purely altruistic,,I meant no harm. In my enthusiasm I didn't even think of the copyright laws.I merely thought many might be interested in the book,,and a few pictures would give them an idea of what was in the book.
To anyone else out there who might be interested,,as Bob said,,and as I so feebly tried to illustrate,,the pictures are awesome. Yes,,many can be found online as I myself have found,,but really ,,,there is something to having a book in your hand to reference when and where you want that is very handy.
I don't know how your particular bookstore is handling these,,if they were discontinued at all stores,,but more can be had if you are interested. As I said,,this isn't really my area of study,,,but I HAD to have one.
Again,,sorry if I overstepped my bounds,,no harm was intended,,but this book is really something and at that price,,you can't go wrong.

Generally speaking I have little interest in this subject but BobD's link to the digital image project that houses these images provides a window into a unique part of a now vanished America that I had never been exposed to.

They are humbling.
I never knew.

Thank you Mark and BobD for shining a light on these images.

Here are five (new or almost new) copies of "The Great Warriors" at about $10 plus s&h if anybody's interested:

http://product.half.ebay.com/_W0QQpr...pidZ1203439943

I buy a lot of my books "used" and very much like Fox Chapel's dent sale, the books I receive are new with a small blemish. I save a lot of money that way and then I buy tools, wood or more books or magazines with the money I save.

Once you know the title, author or ISBN number of the book you want to buy, then go to Addall.com to find out who has the book the cheapest with s&h. It works great!
