Thanks, J. for the kind words! You're right - it's an experience I'll always treasure, as not very many people get the chance like that. As White Cree says, it's Naure's way, but when you watch a personality (or is that birdsonality?) develop, it's hard not to transfer human emotion to our Cousins. I don't fault the Eagle at all, though.

My friend is still trying to talk me into falconry, but I just don't have the time it would take to devote to the bird.

Do you stil have your falcon? Thirteen years is quite a friendship for sure!

Lori, your right about falconry taking alot of time. However, as a full time carver of raptors it's more like school is in session when I have "my" bird in the field. I learn something from Layla(my peregrine) everytime she flies and they do have personalities. Though some would dispute that so called theory. It's also improved my quality of work by 50% just being around these birds. So, with all that said sometimes things are worth trying. Just hold one of these birds on your fist one time, you'll be hooked. Take Care.

There isn't an animal or bird who's personality won't come forth with lots of quality attention & yes, comunication (talking). The time that must be spent with the birds in Falconry would bring out the individual personalitys I would think. What awesome birds. (so are my chickens but thats another story )

Nancy-CA, Well, A few years back I won the Best of Show with a lifesize Redtail on a glove at the Ramona Show. Up until this year I have had a table there with a guy named Glen Butler. A couple years back I had my unfinished lifesize Golden Eagle there. Are you part of the CCG group in the high desert? If so, I also do fish and taught a fish painting seminar for them. Well, what do you think?

Well, sorry I still don't know who you are I have only been carving just over a year now so I don't know many people. I've met a Joe Butler. I live in the Yucca Valley area, we have a small non-CCG group here. I am an "Individual" member of CCG. Were you at this years show? A few weeks ago I judged (as an apprentice) at the Santa Anita show. I will be at the Smoky Hollow show in June (16th). Tomorrow I have to attend a judges seminar in Anaheim. I dread driving there.

Nancy-CA, I know Joe Butler really well! Next time you see him ask him if he knows Jeff Wardwell. No, I was not at this years show. During the spring and summer I am on the road either judging or exibiting at other shows around the country. I couldn't fit it in this year. But I really like to attend those shows because it's so layed back and I don't have to worry about selling the people are so nice as well. Maybe we will cross paths at some point, I look forward to it! Have fun judging, it's a big responsibility. Always try to keep an open mind in regards to what your judging. Most of all HAVE FUN!!
