Default Bass construction reference

Nancy-CA asked that I post some reference photos for scaling the bass.....might as well post the assembly and scaling photos. Here's the first three. OK, I can't figure this out so here's the link to the other thread. http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.co...3557#post93557

First is the body after shaping, showing the vanes cut into the caudel (tail) fin with a "v" gouge and the lateral line raised above the rest of the body. It's only a few thousandths thick, and cut first with a small v, then relieved on both sides and feathered with a sanding stick.
Both the pelvic and pectoral fins have the musculature worked into the body, before fin placement. On the bass, both pelvic and pectoral fins are on the forward part of the body, just below the center section of the gill plates.

Second shows the fins cut and veined. Take note of the extra lenght to accomodate insertion.

Third shows the fins temporarily placed prior to scaling.

I tried to get the scaleing pics in but they have already been posted and won't do a duplicate. I'll see if I can figure this out.

This one shows the cheek areas marked out for placing the scales, and on the right, the tips I made for burning the scales in.

Second photo shows the start of the scaling, bringing the larger scales down to the areas around the pectoral fin insertion point. the large scales will be continued back almost to the tail, then gradually phased into a smaller scale. Smaller scales will then be worked into the transition to the belly, and on the fin musculature.

Check on my site and you can see the finished result.
