Nancy-CA asked that I post some reference photos for scaling the bass.....might as well post the assembly and scaling photos. Here's the first three. OK, I can't figure this out so here's the link to the other thread.

First is the body after shaping, showing the vanes cut into the caudel (tail) fin with a "v" gouge and the lateral line raised above the rest of the body. It's only a few thousandths thick, and cut first with a small v, then relieved on both sides and feathered with a sanding stick.
Both the pelvic and pectoral fins have the musculature worked into the body, before fin placement. On the bass, both pelvic and pectoral fins are on the forward part of the body, just below the center section of the gill plates.
Second shows the fins cut and veined. Take note of the extra lenght to accomodate insertion.
Third shows the fins temporarily placed prior to scaling.
