| | For you Harry Potter Fans My niece is visiting us from California, and just finished the last Harry Potter book. She and I were discussing the characters and plots with her dad, and I asked if she would like an "ELDER WAND"......the one Harry won from one of his young nemesises. It was the most powerful wand in the history of wizardry and Harry decided to let it pass on nto oblivion, in the end, as it was more trouble than it was worth.
Anyway we have some box elder and tag alder (elder) growing in our back lot, so we went out and selected a nice elder branch, and while she is down in Iron Mountain visiting my cousin, I carved out an elder wand.
16" long, with a copper ferrule, a stag antler handle and a fake phoenix tail feather core. (Real Phoenix tail feathers are most difficult to come by!)

| | Re: For you Harry Potter Fans Thanks, everyone, I think she'll like it! This was a pretty good example of "WHITTLIN'".........sitting in the back yard making nothing more than a pile of shavings and a sharp stick! hehehehe

| | Re: For you Harry Potter Fans Great idea Al. I just finnished that book too. Wonderful series and brilliant idea. She's lucky to have such a creative uncle. Great touch with the antler handle and the copper ferrule. Very frustrating about the phoenix feathers - all I can ever find round here are turkey feathers. ;-) !

Hey Al, not hard to get Phoenix feathers here! They are just a couple hours north of Tucson! | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
