Default Yellow Perch in progress

This is a Yellow Perch I've been working on for a few days now and have begun to glue on the fins. There are more fins to come but this is where I'm at so far. I used clear pine because it will be painted. The eyes will be store bought types and the finished fish will be mounted on a piece of drift wood or something. From advice received in another thread, I used a gouge to press in the scale detail, after the paint, it should appear more evenly textured. I'll surely post the end result.

PS

This is my first carving in almost 5 years of no carving activity, I have cut both index fingers and both thumbs so far................sure can see how a person can get out of the groove with a bit of inactivity.

Nice start to your perch, Gilly! You know, if you wore a carving glove and thumb guard you wouldn't have to worry about blood spots on your work....let alone worry about STITCHES! Thanks for sharing him with us, we'll look forward to seeing him finished! Be careful!! Deborah
