Thanks for looking and for the comments. It has been a lot of fun working with Mal. We have used a large variety of tools...first the power die grinders, then the arbor tech power carver and finally and more than any others, hand tools. My hands are sore from all of the work, but that is not a complaint. It's a great feeling to have them earn their keep.
More pics in a few days when we get the paint on and then more after the gateway is installed.
Thanks again,
Christina

Another few shots of this month's work. The carving is done on one side, and we will be painting the back side of the fish part tomorrow where the lettering is carved saying "Please drive safely".
I'll be glad when it is done and delivered, but it sure has been fun. The "man" comes tomorrow to have a look-see on our progress. The other "man" whose opinion really matters saw these images today and emailed back "fantastico". So far, so good.
Enjoy.
Christina

Wow, that's a lot bigger than I attempt to carve. It looks very nice. Did you use vertical grain lumber?

You and Mal are well deserving of a pat on the back for a job well done. I've been following this since the start and will be excited to see the sign placed on the customers property. I'm sure that the installation will be as exciting as the project itself. Thanks for sharing

Bob

Ok, just a few more images as it is being installed. The size is dwarfed now by the gate and the height, but Mal standing under it is almost 6 feet tall.
The exit side is where it reads "Please drive safely" and it is on the back of the fish sign.
It isn't quite stained everywhere yet on the vertical poles, but other than that, it is done.
