Default Work in Progress, Hiram

Here is a bust in Catalpa I am working on. I lack the hair in the back and cleaning up and finishing. What do yall think?

Very good job with the eyes. They are looking in the same direction. That's not easy to do. His profile is realistic too. Good job. I look forward to seeing a photo again when it has its finish on it. Works in progress are so inspiring.

VERY nicely done! From the look of the side view I'd be tempted to continue caving the hair all the way around to the rear side. From the pictures I'm guessing that it's about 2 feet high... just a fun uneducated guess? :-) For some reason that bark kinda looks like maybe red oak?

Ok, I'll quit with all the prying. Can't wait to see the progress!

Hehe, He is out of Catulpa, and is 7 1/2" X 3''. This is one of the few peices of wood that I brought from Arkansas when I moved. I left half a tree of the stuff and a large Cherry log also. Thanks for the comments

Really nice job I have never carved Catalpa is it a soft or hard wood. Love to see those WIP posts so we can follow the progress.
