Default A work in progress and I want to say I`m sorry...

I did`nt get a chance to respond to any post on my walking stick. I had an emergency and had to go to N.C. I`m back now and want to thank everyone that responded. Here is a tough project that I have going right now. An Indian mask that is out of an old piece of wormy chestnut from a log house. The wood is very brittle but if I can get past the flaws in the wood I think it will turn out okay. Any comments or tips are always welcome..Thanks for looking...Bruce

Bruce,I love wormy chestnut,I have 3 barn post that was cut with a broad/axe and they very old and about 8-10 inches thick and 8-10 feet long. I will have them planed and I carve a few mantles out of them plus have some nice chunks later to carve.
This Native America with how you can carve plus the old chestnut will be really something once you've finished with it. Its "Very" nice looking right now!!

Bruce, that's a fine lookin carving, you sure can be proud of that one. I hope the emergency wasn't too serious and that every thing turned out all right. Good luck.

Excellent work Bruce, putting the extra time in to work with difficult wood is well worth it.

Bruce, I agree that is a fine looking carving and sometimes wood with flaws adds character to a carving.
