Trying a different look with my latest woodspirit. I left quite a few branches on this carving. It's made with horse chesnut. Still a little shiny as I just put a coat of tung oil on it. Patrick |

Great Spirit Irishman, love the "setting". I always wonder what's going on behind the expression of those Spirits......."Another day in the woods. I'd like to go for a walk just for once, now if I could only get this tree off my head!" .......sort of expression? Well done, Bob

Patrick nice carving like the concept of the branches gives it the Ent look from Lord of the Rings. BTW how tall is the carving? Thanks for letting us see him Colin

Beautiful structure to the cheeks! I can just see the skin sagging down and into the folds along his nostrils. Great job. Susan |

In response to some of the comments..and thanks by the way. The WS stands approximately 3.5 feet tall and it was a delight to carve. A little stringier than some of the woods I've been using but still one of my top picks for carving mediums. Thanks for the idea on what to call him. He does resemble one of the tree like characters in Lord of the Rings. With all those branches, I would assume he would go out in the garden to ward off the birds and critters. The branches could serve as an extension to hang things from if housed i.e. laundry for exampleTalking . Patrick |
