Default Wooden carved dolls!(and children's Faces!)

I was surfing the web this morning, thinking about how I want to try one of the Hitty dolls that marci, Thomp and others have carved, and stumbled into this site. How cool it would be to carve a whole doll! And these are really lifelike!A few examples:

Anyway, still trying to get through this house renovation stuff. Got put on hold AGAIN! So far Since January, we have had 2 hot water heaters quit (and leak everywhere, a TiVo our kids gave us for Christmas we can't get to work, a coffee pot that decided to deposit the coffee on the counter instead of in the pot, and as of yesterday, the refrigerator freezer quit! We were hoping to spend any extra cash to rebuild our fence which is falling down.

What part of RETIREMENT aren't we getting???

Hope the pictures come through, I copied them from the website. The doll website is http://www.more-than-dolls.de/index.php

Oh Linda.. arent they cute! Here is a site for you to wander in while your waiting for your appliances to behave.

http://www.lotzdollpages.com/#Table%20of%20Contents

This gal has put together a great site on all wooden dolls, history of dolls ect. Lots of inspiration in those pages. She is also a carver of dolls too. Check out her studio.

We've had a icky January here too. And Feb. isnt looking much better. I sure do need spring...and soon.

PS. I would like to try a Dancin' Dan doll one of these days. He's described in her site too.

Thanks Marci! I would like to carve faces some day, and I never thought of using a doll as a model! I still can't believe how realistic they look!

Linda---who's temporarily not sopping up water, but keeping her fingers crossed!

aww Linda, look on the bright side, you could have been us with a frozen pressure valve on our pump. This valve is in the pit from Hades. *8 feet down and in a pit with other critters sharing it* and I REFUSE to go down there. Thank goodness I have a brother in law who is a brave electrician. whew.

We keep running our hot water every half hour to keep the lines from freezing under the house here. I reinsulated 2/3 rds of the house under there last summer, I'm keeping my fingers crossed I did an OK job under there.

I dont want to be crawling around under there when its 17 below tonight. Ugh.

OK Marci, you're in Minnesota! We lived in North Dakota for a couple years. You Midwesterners know cold! To a naive North Westerner, arriving in January the first thing we noticed were the ends of extension cords on the front of all the vehicles. Now I know this was North Dakota, and it WAS the early 1970's, but did they really have extension cords long enough to go to town and back??? Of course we found out right away that most places had an outlet to plug your car in to keep it from freezing! Those were the days! Great party time---never ran out of ice. Just set the ice tray outside for 20 minutes and you had cubes!

Why is it these things always breakdown in the worst weather? We hardly ever see snow, but it snowed the week we had water clean-up to do. Of course if it were a balmy summer day we'd complain because we'd be wanting to do something else!

Just to keep this "On TOPIC" I did finally find the Hitty pattern page again. They've changed it around since I was there last. This time I saved the patterns so when I can finally take a break I can use them!

Stay warm! Hey, at least you probably don't have to be reminded to put your glove on!

Linda
