Default wood bracelets?

I made this today as a bracelet, but I am thinking that with a small pin, maybe Locust...It would look really neat as a hair ornament. Who knows...but it was sure fun to make. i have a few more on the bench waiting to be carved. I left them a bit thicker, cause well, I forgot to leave any meat to carve! The next ones will be a deeper cut and will stand out much better. I am looking forward to my display next fest! Coming up! Arent they always...?

Keoma, what a neat idea and it looks extremely well done, good for you girl,I think it should be a winner for you at the fair. Wood be nice if you could take custom orders and carve their name on them. My only thought, I wonder if in time they will crack and or even break rather easily.

I'm sure you already know this, but teenagers go nuts for stuff like this... Between Karen and I, we have 4 girls, 1 boy... All 4 of the girls use to buy bracelets constantly, and ANYTHING with designs on them HAD TO BE HAD... That was back when I was working... Wow they can sure drain your wallet in a heartbeat... LOL!

Personally, I love it... It's very pretty.

Hey thank you! I make all of my pieces from Hardwoods, and that adds to their longevity I have not had one break, but I am sure they could. It takes me about an hour and a 1/2 to make each one. Pretty good I think. I cut out several at a time and then get some coffee and sit and carve. Its great. Each on is unique!
This one was Cherry, I am working on Manzanita, Yew,Locust,Walnut,Oak and Madrone. And I'm hoping girls at the fairs like them!

It's about time for Californians to roll out of bed!

I think you will definately have a hit with these bracelets. I'll bet you won't be able to keep them at your stand!

Hey - where did you find yew? Is it from your area or from Europe? Also - isn't it a conifer? If so wouldn't that mean it's classified as a softwood?

Anyway - I'd love to try carving some but don't know where to find it. I loved the yew pieces by Geoff King in this WCI.

Oh - oops! Forgot to say - really nice piece Keoma. You come up with fantastic designs and ideas, and your execution on them is wonderful.

Well done again!

Good Morning Sleepy heads!
My Yew actually came from a great guy here on the forum! It came from Europe and is the prize of my shop...it sits on a clean shelf all by itself...a miracle in it self in my shop! I also have a few scraps of Pacific Yew from the California Coast. It IS Conifer in a class, but a harder wood you'll be hard pressed to find! ( I feel a spiritual connection with it, but...ahem...thats just me ) It is amaaaazing! By far the most pleasurable wood I have EVER worked with!
When I saw Geoff King's awesome pendants, I thought...HOLY MOLY! I have a piece in my shop riiight nooow! Thats when I made my Independants with his design in mind.
Thanks a bunch for the approoval!
