Wow Bob. I only recently became active on the site again, and I see that I missed when this posting got started. Your a master at canes, sticks and staffs....and I think this may be your best work on a staff.
My brother asked if I could do him up a dragon walking stick but it would be much humbler than what you have produced. That staff could be a movie prop for a wizard or some other fantasy character.
I hope you don't mind me utilizing some of your ideas...if I ever get the courage to try carving one. I didn't take the time to read the many threads for your post.
Was this a commissioned piece or a carving for pure enjoyment purposes?
Patrick

Thank you Patrick and all, for your kind comments. The piece is a commission, the third by this particular client. Please, feel free to take what ideas you can and make them work for you. I agree with you Patrick, I feel this is my best work yet on a cane/staff.

Bob

Holy Moly Bob! That is an absolutely grand staff! The inlays are remarkable additions to the dragon. I agree the cherry has taken on the perfect color and still wish I could hold it myself and look into that dragon's eyes.
Wonderful piece. I appreciate the photos along the way.

Mighty impressive sir! That hing is huge, I never could have guessed by looking at the previous pictures. Love the details on the scales and eyes.

Hi Bob, 8 months! Time very well spent, EXCELLENT carving. Now you have to let it go,that should be hard to do and I don't think you will do another. Thanks for showing your progress. Merle
