Hi Tommy, you did a really great job on the wizard's face. It is always slow going when you try to carve the whole length of the stick. Just take your time and you'll get to the end eventually.

Thank you very much Gene and everybody.I've got an idea for something I want to do that is very intimidating which is hands. I know they are an art form in themselves and I gotta really push myself to try them. This hopefully will give you a rough idea of how I want them positioned but it will be much deeper and I hope to carve a separate ball of maybe fire or crystal or something to be attached inside the hands like maybe he's going to cast a spell.

Tommy that is a Kool lookin' wizard! Great carvinectomy on a stick. Don't worry about cracks or splits... If you do gather wood sticks for Walking Staffs, just store them in a cool place for 4 mos to 1 year, in a cool dry place. If you have too much temp variance the sticks can check or split... Sometimes splits can be to your advantage. I know 2 People that purchased walking sticks from me because of the split... I asked them why, and they told me they wouldn't have it any other way... Hey, ya never know!
Sincerely, Rob (Lazy C.)

Thank you Rob and pleasure to have you as my first friend on here.No matter how this thing turns out it will probably always bother me that I copied a small piece of the beard which was my favorite part of Michaelangelo's Moses which I saw after I began this thing and decided to try to put it on there even though it goes the opposite direction and will be such a small percentage of the overall carving.

So far hands are as challenging as I thought thought they would be and I'm sure I didn't make it easy on myself picking the hardest positioning I could think of but at least it's looking ok from the front view so far.I figured I would do this first hand many times by the time I get it to the right depth in the wood and make adjustments because it's supposed to be further behind than the second hand if you know what I mean. So in a way this one hand will be kind of like doing a study stick with multiple hands or faces or whatever.

Great looking wizard staff Tommy. The face is very well carved and detailed. Looking forward to seeing this one when finished. Keep up the good work.
