Default Wisteria desk

This is a sketch for a proposal I'm making to a client. I hope they go for it. The desk will be built by another company and I'll provide the carvings. It's 5 ft wide. They are allowing a 9 inch overhang at the front of the desk to have room for my carvings. This will also allow me to back light the carving for a dramatic effect. Should prove fun , challenging and a great topic for a story should it come to fruition.

Ha,,, thanks Russ. No,, not a vengeance,,, just getting everyone up to speed with what I've been doing lately and you haven't been able to see. Don't know if anyone cares or not about what I do but I just keep going like the Energizer bunny. One way or another I'll get my work out there,,,Like I said,, I don't stop.

And just wait till some of these other jobs hit... some should be really fun and different!

You'll see em all...

But honestly Russ,,, would you expect any less of me?

Either Basswood or Wawa, a new wood I've been experimenting with. Plus,, I have an almost endless supply of it. Both really are easy for me to get. But the African wood is soft, easy to carve, holds decent detail,is very stable, not as fuzzy I can get it in reasonably thick pieces (4 inch +) and absurdly cheap. My supplier uses it as the cores for his Mahogany doors as it's so stable. He has his own mill in Africa as well as his door/window/ millwork businesses here.
A good friend to have. He's my source for Mahogany ( he harvests that as well) in addition to the African Walnut I used for the Mantles, bass, oak, and poplar etc. in addition to many other unique species found there. He's supplying me samples to play with. Incredibly beautiful woods. I'm thinking of doing my kitchen in some.

Wow,, what a wonderful compliment Mark, Thank you very much.

Of course I'll keep everyone posted as to what Doris and I are up to. It may be ordinary woodworking stuff,, turnings,,carvings,,restorations, painting... you know,,, the stuff I usually post. I'll keep doing all that ( I hope as time permits) we'll probably also include other things like thoughts about carving, art, whatever strikes our fancy or things happening in our respective lives. It'll be fun and a terrific outlet for such things.
Of course everyone is welcome to visit,,look over our shoulders,, comment,, post questions etc..none of that will change. Actually we both thrive on that aspect of this undertaking. Plus it'll be a great repository of all my articles and photo's in one place easy to use for reference. Really ,,how many interesting and useful articles are lost to the netherlands of computerdom? Now I can have it all.
