Default WIP Eagle head cane

Might as well show my WIP cane. Both pieces are basswood and my elder friend turned the stick to fit my carvesdhead. Stick part is 30 inchs and the head is 6 inchs making the cane 36 inchs. Now to figure out what else to put on the cane shaft, then paint it, I guess.

If you will look on my picture trail, you will see 3 of those eagle head walking sticks, not sure if you can see the designs completely, but I woodburned southwestern and indian designs in it...plus a little chipcarving...You have a great start there!

Love those yeller eyes! I'd like to order some glass eyes myself... do you get them from Van Dykes or the like?

The front and side view look well balanced and right on. Can't wait to see the finish!

Thank you for the kind words from all of you.

Dave(HiHO), I have been to your site several times and got the eagle head inspiration from yours. I like it and wanted to carve one since you posted yours. Problem I have is the elder gentleman that turned the shaft, doesn't do the quality of work he use to do, due to age but I appreciate his time and efforts. The shaft was/is a little off at the top and had to adjust the head to it but am pleased with the outcome. Looked at the flag you carved on the Highway patrolman's cane and if you don't mind, I will use the flag on mine.

Ron, No pattern used except for the blamk I bought in 98. However, I looked at a lot of mountian Men and had an l on how I wanted it to look.

Lightningbolt, The eyes on the Eagle were purchased at a carving show. I bought 4 pair and have used 2 pair so far. Just remembering where I put them was the biggest challenge. Old age, I am guessing. Don't remember who the vender was but he had all kinds of eyes. I bought a pair for ducks but the look to big for the mallard decoy I have roughed out.

GaryMac. If you don't mind, I will try a couple of your Santa ornaments.

I haven't been onm here much lately as we have been traveling a bit. Some trps are a couple of days and then visiting the in-laws and working around their place. Wasting money and having fun with the little bride.

Anyway, Thanks again for the kind words and they are greatly appreciated.
