Default Whittling Contest

The Spokane Woodcarvers Rendezvous ends tomorrow (June 14). One of the events of the weekend is to carve or whittle a skateboarding figure. Each participant is given a kit of roughouts including the board with wheels. The figure can be anything the participant wants to put on the miniature skateboard. The entries will be judged and raced tomorrow (similar to "pinewood derby" races).

Here's a photo of my entry:

Well, it didn't win anything. The entries were judged on painting (mine wasn't), humor, ugliness, etc. Mine lost its first race in spite of the four steel washers I added to bring it up to legal weight (2 oz), We had fun, though!

Hi Phil,
Just a follow-up to show members the stiff competition that Phil was up against at the Spokane Rendezvous. We finally got pictures posted yesterday, so if you have time, take a look at spokanecarvers.com, and click on the pictures tab, then the 2009 rendezvous.
Great to have you there Phil, Tom
