| | White Pine Wood Spirit I've got one coat of tung oil/thinner (still wet) on this 3 foot, 100 lb plus, white pine wood spirit. The head piece is quite unique with some 6-8 large branches cut off around the head. I may take another shot at the beard as I was disappointed how it turned out.
I took a little longer with this carving as I attempted to take a number of pictures at the various stages of doing the eyes. I now have to go back and take a look at them to see how they turned out. If time allows, I'll do my best to post a number of them with some notes in the tutorial section...as a number had asked how I do my eyes.

| | Re: White Pine Wood Spirit Patrick....you have captured the face to an extraordinary level. Well done. I agree about the beard, lacks something, but being so short, it will be hard to do something with it. The top should prove interesting. I am anticapating something interesting on that part!!! No pressure.....
Keep up the wonderful work.

| | Re: White Pine Wood Spirit Patrick that is another great carving. Again your eyes are fantastic. We are looking forward to a tutorial on how you do your eyes. Mary has asked me to do one but my eyes are nowhere the quality of your eyes.

| | Re: White Pine Wood Spirit Beautiful carving, man you keep your V-tools nice and sharp to get such a clean crisp cut on those eye lids nice job.
As far as finishing off that beard, I would take a large V and cut a few notches out right there at the bottom, then come up from the bottom and run them up towards the mouth and cheek areas. It sure would'nt take much to finish up that finr carving. |

| | Re: White Pine Wood Spirit Thanks everyone. I'm going to take another crack at the beard - thanks for the suggestion Mark. It definitely needs depth and the hair is too straight up and down.
Colin, your woodspirit eyes would make a fine tutorial...everyone has their own style so don't hold back.
I don't know where I'm going to start as for a tutorial. Please be patient with me.
