Default What are you carving now?

It is time to see what everyone is up to again. I always enjoy the amazing variety of what's up with everyone.

Mine is a relief carving in basswood 36" X 8" meant to be another over-the-door carving. It is an original design that I've done similar carvings like in the past of a Pictish tree of life, along with 2 Celtic knots from patterns that I especially liked. It has a ways to go before it's done.
I expect to paint it with a variety of colors when it is done.

So, what's on your bench?
Christina

Thanks Sharon. I also have about 6 other carvings going, but that is the one I am trying to finish first.
What are you working on?

Christina,This is whats on my bench(sewing table, kitchen and dining room table, in a box on the dining room floor and a few other places). Some of these go back 5or 6 years,to the present.I get stuck on how to do something or get tired of it, so I go on to something else.I also have something for Cliff, but I'm not posting it yet. Here's my neurosis(sp), I mean my carvings! The plastic bags are items that are going to the thrift store one of these years!

Hi, just finished a carving titled Dynamite vs Elmer. There is a thread on the web titled Dynamite vs Elmer if you want to have a look at them.

Christina, That is nice. What's on my work Bench? A big Mess!!!
Getting ready for a Cub Scout "See and Do It day, the last Saturday of the month. The little bride is in charge of the "Genius Kit", where the boys make something out of the same material. Could be an invention(don't care if it works), or whatever, Then we let them explain it and then they are judged.

I have the wood area and have brid houses cut out and a squrril feeder parts cut out and tghey will assemble both and if time paint them. Others adults have other area to keep the boys busy for the day. Lot of fun.
But the carving bench is a Mess right now.

Carving a standing bear. In the middle of painting a snowman, fishermen sitting on a keg and a navy sailor, I might stain him.

I'm working on another red and white cedar carving, should finish it this weekend.

The burn is a low setting so it will not take away from the grain and the finish will be clear.

If all goes as planned, I'll have this large woodspirit completed sometime tomorrow. Its to go to a fundraising auction the first of April. I have to detail the eyes, texture the beard and then determine how to finish it.
