Great thread Susan! Its been getting a little too quiet around here ![]() I'm working on this Ring-Tailed Lemur. He is life-sized. About 15 1/2 inches long, 13 inches from toes to the highest point of the back, the tail is 18 inches long. The texturing and burning is murder! I hope he will be done in a couple of weeks.

I've been working on this largemouth bass. The picture of the right side shows nearly completed, sanded and working on the musculature around the fin insert points. Left side is still only roughed out. Ilike to get one side pretty well fleshed out before I work on the other. that seems to help me visualize the entire body shape, and get the eye and fin placements coordinated. The spiney part of the dorsal fin is complete, while the soft ray portion is only finished on one side. The anal fin is ready, the two pectoral fins and the two pelvic fins are fully carved and need to be vaned. Obviously the caudal is NOT anywhere near completed yet. This guy will be persuing a crayfish, and that is fully carved and ready for paint. In the lower left part of the pictures. Probably another three weeks left on this project what with finishing the carving and fins, then assembly and scale burning, and finally building some habitat. I have the base finished ready to go.......that's a start! Al |

Some really great looking projects! What am I working on? Well, I just got through working on dinner. The little bride is such a good cook and I couldn't disappoint her by not eating, now could I. Got some pictures of some of my latest but they are so lazy, they have taken up residency in the camera for sure. Lazy bums don't want to come out of the camera. Guess it is eviction notice time.

I'm working on a Nighttime Santa already posted under WIP. It's based of Mark Akers' carving and pattern that he won with in Charlotte. I'm getting ready to start on it again and hopefully have it finished and painted this weekend. Everyone's work is great! Love to see what everyone is working on! Blake |

Wow, I see a lot of busy carvers and great WIP's. Here's what I did this morning. I'm working on a few oak leaf and acorns ornaments now. I'll get some pictures of that tomorrow. Dylan

Doug, The tennis player is really great! You caught the 'intense moment' look on her face just perfectly. I'll stop by your thread when you have her finished and posted. Chipper, I can understand why you are proud of the "Brown" santa, there's lots of detail and lots of movement to that carving. But the one that really catches my eye is your tall, unfinished 2"x2" face with the wide eyes! He is so wonderfully stylizes with his huge eyes and small narrow nose ... I get the feeling he should be the ship's mast to some viking boat! Marci, The Eyes Have It!!!! That set of bark carvings would be a show stopper, I can see the crowds standing around your table right now asking "How did she do that?" The highlights in the eyes are perfect. Nancy, I'm blown away, what a wonderful topic for a carving. I love to wood burn, but what you have tackled is way beyond me. The eyes are great, the position is great ... and I love how you have his (her?) back foot perched to show the balance on the toes, not the flat of the foot. Hope you'll post this one when it's done. Al, Just Amazing!!!! Maybe you will consider doing a WIP on how you put everything together, the construction stage. I would be fasinated to watch. Kenny, Get off your lazy ---- and get those pics posted!!!! (Please notice that there are FOUR dashes there not three ) And, don't blame your wonderful wife or your camera or even the mailman for your tummy being so full of good food that you can't walk over to the computer to upload your latest carvings to the forum And while we are discussing those with no pictures .... Hi-Ho, Where's your latest ?????? ![]() Blake! He's great! He's a real grinner! Droppy drawers is a perfect idea for your next Santa. OK Dylan! We all know you did a fantastic job on this one! Your welcome to your bragging rights, you more than earned them. Thank you, everyone, for joining in the fun!!!! Susan |

Nice work guys ![]() The Long Neck Mallard and the Snowman are almost finished, the others have a long way to go. The ducks were carved from blocks and the other things were roughouts. Bill ^v^ |

Geez! The work here is amazing! Susan, thanks for starting this thread again. I really love seeing work in progress photos. I haven't gotten close up photos of my work to show you yet, but thanks for asking. The lemur has me "stumped"! The stove hood is just plain fantastic, the fish...I had to show that to my husband. Chipper, I love your santas and faces...what fine detail. Doug's tennis player pattern or not, looks like a wonderful project. and Bill's platypus is so original and well carved. TomH, I love the noah's ark animals and the ark as well. The quantity alone of the sticks carved is baffling. I look forward to seeing Paul's owl finished and in place. Retry, the face you carve in the teflon is wonderful! Marci! Those little branches turned into wonderful woodspirits! They look like Colin may have influenced you a bit. Great job....love the owl in there. Bill, you've been busy. The flower (rose?) in the background of your second image looks very nice. Love the work. That was a fun way to start the day looking at all of the carvings. Thanks for posting them. Thor |

| Thanks Susan, I think you woke me up to the fact that I've been putting off this carving for way to long. See if you can see a resemblance to "Elvis" on this peice of Pine. I still have quite a bit left, but if I get off of my duff, it won't take to long. Now that you gave me an incentive. I'll start working on it. ( attached ) 2 views, Right lighting & left lighting.
