| | This weeks project This is a barn scene that I have been working on for a week or so. It is Spanish Cedar 2"X12X16. Let me know what you think I still need to do or correct. I put pecan stain on the roofs and tree to kind of make them stand out different let me know if it worked. Thanks Ron |

| | Re: This weeks project Ron it looks pretty good but if it was me,Id use a little dark walnut stain in the doors and windows to shade and deepen them just a little more plus a few areas on the roof, use a small paint brush, but I keep looking back again at your barn,it looks pretty good as it is...I guess, I just like alot of shadows in my work! I do know one thing?? I sure admire your work! Tn

| | Re: This weeks project Ron, I think the tree is too "solid". Perhaps you could make the edges a little less symetrical (sp)...ins and outs....up and downs. Is that a pond in front? If it is, then maybe a little suggested movement.
Should be another great relief picture. |

| | Re: This weeks project Nice, you might try a little Watco dark stain wax over your finished project. Don't forget to wipe off after a few minutes , this will hightlight the deep cuts and give your carving a much deeper, stronger look. |

| | Re: This weeks project I listened to all the ideas everyone posted and did allot of hands on and decided to redo allot of the barn that I showed earlier. I thought I added too much detail on the siding and reworked the walkway per my best critic's help. I also changed the tree by trying to make it feel like a smaller tree in front of the bigger one. I hope the picture will show the tree trunk at the left of the barn. I did my best to just burn in the board siding it felt more like a barn this way. I ended up setting my stylus on fire most of the time but I think it came out ok. Let me know what you think.

| | Re: This weeks project I like the tree effect. Now it isn't so "one-dimensional". The reflections in the water don't come across well on the picture...it took me awhile to figure out that they were reflections. But I'm not sure how you would fix this...maybe a little shading when the reflection is a dark door or window. Surely someone who does more reliefs can offer some advice.
It is looking very nice. |

| | Re: This weeks project Ron, looks fantastic to me. I really like the way you re-worked the tree. The lines in the roof and the timbers of the barn are really good!! Again, super work! | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
