| | Weekend Doings 9/2 - 9/4 (Long Weekend) Okay I am going to try to get the thread going each weekend or Monday to motivated myself to at least pick up a knife or gouge each week!!!
Next week we are having the 4th Annual Artfolks Expo in Branson, MO. This is for Gouge Chip Carvers and Incised Carvers and we are lucky to get Warren Raucher to come judge for us!! So I am on the last side of the maple box that I am doing for my daughter. This evening I should be complete and I will post pictures of all the sides... inside AND out. We do all sides when we carve....
What are you all doing?
Oh yeah... and I get to do honey do's in between whacks!!
Sean
PS here are the pics of the box of the sides that will be out... check out the Gallery for the inside sides too.

| | Re: Weekend Doings 9/2 - 9/4 (Long Weekend) I've been working on several things. Just finished the carving on a little hillbilly from a roughout by Rick, but still need to paint it. Also finished a miniature bottlestopper for Christmas - Santa is 2 inches tall. And I'm working on a witch for Halloween. Have most of it carved, and parts painted; still need to do a base, and get a couple more parts done.

| | Re: Weekend Doings 9/2 - 9/4 (Long Weekend) I had to stop working on this guy over the weekend as I discovered that my main parting tool has some large nics in it causing me to tear the fibres. My mustache and beard is roughed out and I still have some detailing to do and shaving around the nose and cheek bones. This 80-100 lb, 2.5 ft. piece of red oak is similar to a carving I did about a month ago and it was pretty popular so I did another one similar to it. The pics have him laying down in my log holder as he's too heavy to maneuver until I'm ready to put the oil to him.

| | Re: Weekend Doings 9/2 - 9/4 (Long Weekend) No carving this weekend. Finished up a carving tool carrier. The wood burnings are by Pat Sherman. The burnings are panels that can be removed. This tool carrier is still in the prototype stages, and subject to be changed as I begin to make use of it. Tom H
