| | Re: Weekend Doings 9/2 - 9/4 (Long Weekend) Thanks Bob and Mark for your comments. I see a number of us have been busy over the weekend.
I like your can topper Bob. Ever since I made a cane for my Mother, I've been getting request. I should have the finished wood spirit posted tonight. The oil really brings out the detail.

| | Re: Weekend Doings 9/2 - 9/4 (Long Weekend) Boy, these projects are inspirational! bob, the eagle cane looks great, and Irishman, that wood spirit keeps looking better and better. Hope you get your "V" tool straightened out so you can finish him up.
Goody, those Santas are great, and LOTS of 'em! I think you made a good choice on the miner's tool.
Wish I could turn out carvings like you guys do......I feel lucky if I manage two or three a YEAR, let alone these "what was done THIS WEEKEND" aaaaarrrrrgggggghhhhh.

The pics have him laying down in my log holder as he's too heavy to maneuver until I'm ready to put the oil to him.
Patrick | No sure how you managed it, but the grain almost looks "bookmatched" on either side of his face? Was that an accident? looks terrific! |

| | Re: Weekend Doings 9/2 - 9/4 (Long Weekend) That is one awesome looking eagle, Bob! And some of those faces just stop me in my tracks!!
All I did this past weekend was work on a canoe bowl roughout. First picture is how things look when I started, next is how far I got.
And yes - in reference to another thread - I cheated! :P
Last picture is a cockleshell rattle I've been slowly working down. Actual shell in right of photo. |

| | Re: Weekend Doings 9/2 - 9/4 (Long Weekend) Bob, In reference to the tool carrier - yes it is a bit heavy, but I don't plan on toteing it too far. Actually, its main use may end up as a tool storage unit at my bench. But when I am going somewhere to carve I can take it with me. As I said, I will probably keep on refining it as I need to.
