Default Waste Not - Want Not!

My lovely announced that she had a dental appointment and wanted me to drive so I grabbed my carving "ditty" bag and ran to the car. I had already thrown a couple of pieces of basswood cut-offs from another project in the bag so all I needed when we got to the office was a flat spot to park my butt on. I'd remembered this little Troll project from a magazine or on-line surfing and the cut-off was shaped just right for it. It ain't pretty but it did help kill an hour. It only stands about 2-1/2". It's finished with acrylic paint, and one coat of water based antiquing and one coat of satin waterbased varnish.

Eddy, that's an impy looking little troll! Great job!

I'm envious of you folks who can sit down out in public and whittle something out like that. That's really neat you can do that. Me, I have to be out in my little room, all by myself with no one watching. Bummer.

Nice job for such short notice and time! How in the day can anyone get bored when there is a knife in hand and a (tiny) piece of wood! I'm always prepared for a traffic jam too... and look forward to them sometimes!
