| | Walking Stick This is a walking stick I been working on for a couple of weeks. I just finish staining yet. All I have left to do is paint it now.
Oh yah, it's based on the Irish Frog Stick but the frog croaked!

| | Re: Walking Stick Great job Mel. Like Forrest said - love the way the face is tucked back in the leaves. Nice design. Can't wait to see it all finished up.

| | Re: Walking Stick Excellent walking stick. I saw the design just last night while looking at the WCI site. Just curious, what type of wood do you use? Down here it is sotol and yucca stalks.

| | Re: Walking Stick Thanks everyone, this was a project. Hopefully I can paint it today, but I have a lot to do. I'm heading up to the Four Corners area to celebrate the Fourth with my family.
Kathy the wood is Aspen, I'm hoping to get some more in the next couple of weeks. To me it carves just like basswood.

Mel | Hey, Four Corner's hot, hot, hot are you camping? Hope it includes a nice cool meandering river. It's hot here! whew, whew
I love to carve Aspen, only have done one 3-D carving, but have some nice limbs stored away. Even a couple sticks ready to carve, now that we have the Cane and Stick Forum should get lots of help if needed.
Have a ![004[1]1](http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.com/forum/images/smilies/004[1]1.gif) and Safe 4th.

| | Re: Walking Stick Sam thanks for the comments, he does look a little serious don't he.
Kathy, your definately right, it's hot up there. That never really bothered me though. Now get after those sticks, I'm thinking of doing one, the way Susan Irish did, by carving the top part and attaching with a piece of all thread. To me that would make it a lot easier.
I'm also fixing to ask a lot more questions of these stick carvers also, so I hope their ready.
