Default Waiting For A Good One!

Here's that Pithy Cowboy, leaning against the fence, lariat and headstall in his hands, eyeballing the morning prospects for the days upcoming work. There is one improvement that I know I will make on the next one I do leaning against a fence and that is to move his elbows back farther. While this one looks okay the other would look much better and more relaxed.

Anyway, you comments and criticism is always welcome. There are more photos on the Blog of this character!

I can't criticise it. Sure looks great to me. What's the size of it. If it's defective I still have some shelf space you can store it on.

I'm waiting to see this good one finished! He looks pretty relaxed, to me.

wow, i like that one a lot...so great expression, not only face, but body language too :-)

edit while looking more at him, how about making his hands "hang down" a little ? his wrists look a little as in tension..just a thoought, maybe for the next one

Lynn, another fine master piece I'm sure. I understand your suggestion about the elbows being moved back behind the rail a little more, however in the speed of the moment this cowboy is more concerned about getting that "Good One" and not adjusting to a comfortable position. I think its a great looking pose. Bill

Lynn,
I have to agree with Bill on this one, I wouldn't change the pose at all, it just looks like he might be ajusting his rope is all. I think if you were to put his elbows back farther and in tighter to the body for a more relaxed position it might take away some of his attitude, and thats what really makes this pose...my two cents...

Great job.

On the elbows, either way would look fine. Maybe he is momentary relaxing, getting ready.
Yet another fantastic piece. Guess I have to wait to see it painted huh?

Nice carving Lynn, Your work is always extremely nice. The first thing that grabbed me (you asked) the chaps are a little short. As a new guy I rarely offer an opinion but I grew up around and wore chaps a lot as a youngster. Maybe these are a kind of chaps I've not seen before, maybe his girl washed them? lol. Arnie
