Default Valentines Box for Wife

Here's a box I made my wife for Valentines Day. The sides are Cherry, dovetailed together with a Maple bottom. The top is Mt. Laurel with an inlaid Madrone heart and Ipe arrow. The arrow is full length and the heart is notched to fit over the arrow. Then I slightly carved the edges of the heart and arrow. I made a couple of mistakes such as putting the pins and tails on the wrong boards. There are also a few gaps in the joinery which I tried to cover with wood filler. Believe me, when they say the wood filler is stainable...it's not Anyway, here it is.

Thats a very good looking box.You never know what kind of mistakes will happen till you start a project.I think the little mistake add charm to a project.

Love it. I am a box maker myself and I want to combine carving with my boxes as well. Nice work.

Thanks for the kind words. I guess I'm my own worst critique.
