| | Update on Relief Carving Hi gang I thought I would show you how far I have gotten on the relief I started some time back. I'm getting where I can see a little with my camera at full magnification. I think you can see the monitor that I watch to carve by to see what I am doing. It's a very slow process but I will get it done someday. The areas I have started on have to be about 1 1/2 deep so I have along ways to go. I am trying to come up with some tool designs for deep relief. I have some ideas I will draw up and see what happens. Let me know what you think.

| | Re: Update on Relief Carving I agree with Kathy, Ron. You are an inspiration and you are progressing real nice on the relief. Appears your sight is coming back a little. That is great news. Will continue to pray for you. |

If there is something I can do to help just let me know. I am not too bad of a toolmaker if I know what you need or want will be happy to give it a try for ya.
The relief will be great, I can see that already !

| | Re: Update on Relief Carving WHEW! WHAT A RELIEF (Pun intended!)--and a good one at that!!!
Ron--it's great to see you back in the carving chair again. Slow going or not--keep chiping, chipping, chipping away! Otherwise, it won't be a relief! (Pun intended) LOL
Have fun!! |

| | Re: Update on Relief Carving Well done Ron, good to see you back at the carving bench! I'm sure it brings you much satisfaction. Keep up the good work.
It is tough getting the waste wood down, you might try a drill press with a Forstner bit, as you can set the depth you want on the press and it can't "get away" on you. I've even filed off the center barb on some to eliminate the point hole in the backgrounds. I've used the set up several times and find it much easier, and safer than a router. Those things scrae me to death! Still, please be careful .... might be a good idea to have some help handy when you do it.
