Default Update on Bass Carving

This was started in the "watcha carvin" thread, but that's getting prettylong, so I'll put this update on a new thread.

Not a whole lot has changes since the last...I was ready to start the scaling, when I notices some work needed around the mouth and jaw and the left side of the head.

I got that done and now have pencilled in the scale areas on the cheeks and the head and gill areas.. the lateral line is complete, and the bugger is ready to scale NOW.

There were also some questions somewhere about making tips for scaling. I've got three of the tips I made pictured with the bass, along with the "high tech" burner I use.

Any of you other fish carvers have comments, I'm always open for suggestions.

Al

Started scaling this bass last night and a little this am. Scales will still need some blending where they meet the non-scaled areas around the head and opercle areas. Near the tail, around the fin insertion points and the entire belly area will need scales about half this size.

This is about two hours work and all I can take at one time, so there is probably another 6-8 hours to finish the scaling.

Eyes should arrive later this week.
