| | Two Vultures, Three Turtles, and One Mountain Man! No, this isn't a new version of the old Christmas standard. It's the new figures that I've added to my Rendevouz scene. All the characters are complete now. I just have to do the rifle hardware, another paddle that will be floating in the river and a jug, which will also be floating. Should have that done tomorrow so I can begin painting.
While doing the rifle I found a real good reference site for the Hawken. It's www.thehawkenshop.com They sell kits and parts so there are lots of photos of the various pieces up close. I decided on doing the flintlock version vs. the percussion cap as the former is a little more difficult so it's a challenge. It will also look better and cause more interest. If you look in his right hand you'll see he's holding his powerhorn and possibles bag. Hopefully, the powder is still dry.
While the vultures may not have murder on their mind you can bet they're hoping for a little cleanup work to head their way. Believe it or not, those three turtles will end up being the most commented on aspect of this scene. For some reason it always happens that way. You spend hours on a figure and then everyone zeros in on something that took you five minutes to do! |

| | Re: Two Vultures, Three Turtles, and One Mountain Man! Lynn, you make it look so easy, while we know how much work goes into it. Great job! Inspiring as usual. Love the humor in your work, and the small side details, like those little turtles.

| | Re: Two Vultures, Three Turtles, and One Mountain Man! Great scene. Looks like there should be some call out bubbles above each of their heads...including the vultures. I expect there could be a number of phrases that could come out of each character.

| | Re: Two Vultures, Three Turtles, and One Mountain Man! I had thought I was finished with all the characters but two ducks flew in this morning to see what was going on. Had a back corner that looked a little empty so the quackers will fit in nicely. I'll take lots of photos when I do the water feature so you can see how I do it. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
