Default Took me 76 years but...."I got 'er done"

Coffeeman graciously agreed to come to my home yesterday to get me going on a wood spirit. Well gang, he is one great teacher to come to a stangers house, spend a whole day and got me up and runnung. I would say he did about 60% of it and I probably 40%, remember, I'm the guy that cut his thumb half off last Tues. so I was a wee bit incapacitated at best. Anyway we got 'er done and here's a pic, not quite finished yet but all I have to do is spray it (I think).
Hopefully I'll be able to attach a pic, so here goes, and thanks for lookin.

Fantastic expression and a great woodspirit face! I'd have to say that you're off to a great start and wish that I'd had a good mentor when I started carving them... that would have lessened the learning curve quite a bit I'm sure.

Thanks a lot for posting!

Cliff,

Be honest now Cliff, the 60 % portion is yours, including the fact that you lost one of your stitches in your thumb while using the palm tools.

Thanks so much for the nice message you placed in the off topic section, I appreciated all the kind words from yourself and the other members.

Advice for you when taking the next picture, outside shots are really great, but the sun has bleached out the shading effect with it laying flat down on the grass, next time, hang it from one of those nice trees down on the river bank in your back yard, the sun will be more effective casting shadows throughout the beard/hair lines etc.

You did a great job Cliff and I really enjoyed our day making some chips fly all around.

Bill

Great story about Coffeeman, but so glad you got to carve the woodspirit.
He does look very surprised to have been found in that wood.
Keep it up, and I know you'll be wearing safety gloves along with the rest of us "all" the time. ..Hope the stitches heal quickly.

Thumbs up Re: Took me 76 years but...."I got 'er done"

You got a great carving and the wounds to show for it ... You sir are a offically a woodcarver ..

Even though it took 76 years .. You have come through like a true woodcarver would ..

Great piece and will pray for a quick healing ..

That's a real nice job and I'm sure that if the shoe was on the other foot that you would have done the same for him. That's what's so great about getting old and grumpy.... you learn that we're not alone on this old blue marble and it not only feels good to do things for others but it's down right fun!

WOW. Thanks for all the kind words gang, sure do appreciate it. I now know the feeling you all had when you finished your first piece. I've been thinking about carving for at least 25 years and finally got around to it with the help of the old Coffeeman.

All right tucker1931, working wounded, I just knew that Coffeeman was a nice person. You know, you just can't do one, so when your wounds heal I bet you'll do another. Good job!
