Charlotte I doubt if I could find anything wrong with it. I think you did a beautiful job you and the whole family. I can't get Lou to carve at all he just lays and watches!

Looks great! Fantastic paint job as you always do. And from the looks of all the responses on this post you had lot's of backup on this project. That's great too. As for the hands they look okay to me. If you're really concerned about them remember what Walt Disney, Chuck Jones, and almost all the other big cartoonists did with the problem of hands..."THEY PUT GLOVES ON THEM!" The gloves hide all the detail. In Santa's case gloves would fit the character fine. Just a suggestion.

One last suggestion, and all this is meant in the most positive way, while the base is fine I don't think Santa is that well associated with grass! Let it Snow!

Hugh, I owe the little I did ,to all the great help on this board.. I have learned so much from these nice people . It's a great place to learn. Your directions for the grass was a lot of help too. Thanks a lot.

Well, Gary, If I could carve portraits like you do , I would be bursting at the seams. Maybe I could try a Santa with Curtis' face. Yea.. dream on.. Thanks Charlotte

Yes, Tony .." some fun" that is just what I need .. Maybe a Santa with gloves on...

Awh, but Ron.. Maybe he is your Angel unaware and is sending you " thoughts of help." Now that's a good thing." just maybe....

Lynn .. shoot... These days Santa does everything. When Christmas is over ,He takes a trip South where the butterflies are. Why, I have even seen him Golfing and standing on the beach with the seashells! Gee I looked at this Santa again and I forgot to antique the flowers.. Awh pooh... No fun yet!
Yes, gloves is a good idea and my fun one will have gloves ,but how will I ever learn? I decided he better not wear gloves in Florida..lol Thanks for all your help and suggestions .. I need all the help I can get.. Charlotte

Great carving(s). Love the way you positioned all the critters. Real eye catching and fantastic colors. Well done.
