Up date on Tinker Knives from the author: Mike G. (they do not fold up, they are permanently glued open) Hi Ho Silver (in the process of expoxying in the spacer which part of it is whittled so that it slides between the side liners of the knife body, the spacer and exoxy will make the blade solid and if it ever wiggles loose, a little super glue around the bolster and the tang of the blade will make it solid again. In fact with regular pocket knives that I use in carving, I super glue the blade in the open position because the area where the knife and spring that hold it taunt rub together is where the wear and tear on the blade occurs from being opened and closed over and over again as metal rubs against metal. When the blade becomes loose again, a little lacquer cleaner applied to the area will prepare the area for super glue.) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> DISCLAIMER: The term "Tinker Knives" or "Tinker Knife" refers to the process of bringing new life to an old pocket knife by encasing its metal body within a wooden handle held together with epoxy. In no way does the term "Tinker Knives" or "Tinker Knife" refer to a name brand nor name of any knife existing now, in history and in fiction. It refers to the process of "tinkering." >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> SORRY, "Tinker Knives" made by me are not for sell, they are only for my "tinkering" and for a "how to" description on my Blog. I pay myself twenty dollars an hour to "tinker" and "tinkering" is a S--L--O--W process so to make them to sell would be very costly. Besides, it is more fun the learn for oneself while "tinkering." Read my blog for "how to" make your own "Tinker Knife." THANKS for comments and interest. Last edited by Donald K. Mertz; 05-29-2008 at 09:50 AM. |
