I've got alot of projects that I'm in the process of finishing up. This trout has been finished twice. Hopefully the third time is a charm. At this point, I only have the lower fins, the eyes, the base, and the painting to do. |

I've all the fins but one attached. Some minor detailing left. Sand sealer needs to be appplied. Then Paint. Oh Yeah, then there's the habitat. |

That's a really pretty looking trout! Nice fluid look and the head and fins are very nicely done. Al |

I dunno, the head just doesn't seem the right shape to me so far, to large and rounded to much. Maybe it's just the angle of the pic and the lighting.....or heck, it might just be me. Can't wait and can probably tell better once it is finished. Otherwise, looks fine to me.

It looks like you are putting a lot of thought and effort into the Trout and it is starting to show. Looking forward in seeing it finished. Merle

I don't know how you guys do it with the attention to so much detail..ie: scales. My hat is off to you for this great looking trout. Can't wait to see it finished. And you say it is your third attempt? Gosh, how far along did you get on the first two trys? Joe.

Brent, I think you are right, if this were a full grown lunker of a steelhead, but a juvenile rainbow is more apt to have that shorter, rounded shaped head similar to a brook trout. And even brook trout "coasters" develop a longer, more streamlined head, even developing a slight hooked jaw when the reach record size. I'll assume this fish of Hoogsters is a "younger" fish. You'd also be hard pressed to ever see a trout in natural settings with that much curve in it's spine, but a little artistic license gives a piece a nice sense of mobility. Thanks for the constructive criticisms. You're right about the rounded head Brent. Al,I was also thinking that the curve is too pronounced, but I'll live with that one. I started the fish 10 years ago as a rookie, and didn't think about that. Still a rookie I suppose. I'll look into refining the head shape some. Thanks again. Bill |
