Default there is a place I go

This is for those that take the time to share their efforts with us.
when I pick up a tool to make that first cut, the distractions of the
world begin to slide gently into the background and a vision of the
sculpture renders itself with such clarity that the waste wood literally
falls away revealing the form beneath and in no time at all I am
experiencing that warm glow one feels when you looks at a portrait
and realize for the first time that it is staring back at you or when you
look into the mountain scene that you've created and feel like your
there walking among the trees.
Yeah...right, How often does that happen. Not that often for some
of us, and for some maybe not at all.
For those of you that take the time to share, thanks... from those of
who live vicariously through your accomplishments

What an interesting reply and what better way to share your "way" than through a personal blog. I've met a few of you face to face and others I have visited with over the phone but the majority of you I will only get to know by your personal pages and the works that you display here.
BTW I'm a big fan of primitve technology and enjoyed the pics of spinning wheel and the 'sounds' of your raw material

Thanks , it is fun to do and I try to keep it up as much as I can, all my friends are in KY and FL. so it is a way to keep informed and close to one another. I miss KY but since I am here I try to make the best off it.

Elwood I get the exact same feeling when I am carving or turning, being one with the wood and nature, the sounds and sensations of the blade sliceing through the fibers of the wood. Also knowing that this has been done by people for thousands of years all over the world, in all cultures and races. You could easily take your words and turn them into a woodcarvers poem.

Cannuck are all those dogs yours o_0?

I am guilty! I will be whittling away, the tv on or radio, wife or daughter trying to talk to me and I am oblivious. Sometimes they have to physically, but carefully touch me to get me to "come back". I do this when I am reading and writing as well. It sure is calm and nice there. Kind of like sitting beside o cool mountain stream in late spring. Everything is perfect.

Thanks for this thread ElWood! Now, I am off to check out cannuck's page.

Elwood that was a joke I guess I should have added the little sarcastic smiley guy. I was thinking about this while I was carving then I turned on my radio and put in a ZZ Top cd and totaly forgot it.
