| | Re: there is always hope Hi Doris, well this is certainly interesting--I know that is what people sometimes say when they don't know what to say. LOL
OK, here goes I have purposely not looked at the other posts so as not to be influenced by other's guesses.
My thought is it looks like a fish you might find in the deepest depths of the Ocean. It' also reminds me of something an Astec might have created.
You will give us the answer right?

| | Re: there is always hope doug your post made me laugh, and that is good ! ... no keoma, i dont know what jabberwocky is... hey thank you all, and thank you in particular thor, for that explanation. i did not think about it that different life experiences makes you understand symbols differently...noone has addressed the main symbol i had put, but one of you is very close to what i intended to show...very close indeed... i think, i want say it only a little later, to give others who look later and maybe wish to see what they think a chance to do so too...thank you all for your words, it means so much to me, that you all care to come in and say. thank you :-) |

| | Re: there is always hope well, i want share what the origine for this carving was... i wanted create something which speaks of change and impermanence, of something quite uncomfortable, which will go away after some time if only we can endure the time it takes to do so. i wanted create the feeling in you of " this too shall pass" ... i believe we all have had times we feeled like this ... we try hard to keep our head up, and smile, despite we not feel like it, since we know only this way is the way to go, "there is always hope" ... i think, sharon came closest to see it, as her words seem describe exactely that to me......
yes, as many of you have seen, the carving is based on the shapes of a whale, since they represent peace of soul to me, you can see his eye, you can see the fluke. the spiral represents a wave of water, the up and down of emotion (or life) too, you can see a big tear drop under the eye, representing the "uncomfortable" which we hope will pass soon, in my case a depression ... BUT, the mouth, it smiles, though its a strained smile from all effort to endure it, and the fluke is up even though strained...
anyway, i wanted thank you again, for coming in and share what you see. it helped me a lot... and it was good to learn, that symbols meanings are mainly understandable for the one who writes the symbol ...thank you
