Default Thanks for helping me with the dog

Looking at all the carvings being posted here finally motivated me to begin and finish one. This dog is a little over 2" tall and carved from a piece of Mesquite that Jim Mischel sent me for knife handles. I liked the wood too much and decided to carve it instead.

Thanks Jim and thanks everyone for the inspiration.

Looks good to me Ron. Even though I've had dogs for almost 60 years I'm dammed if I can carve them. They look more like goats when I stop and give up.. Mesquite is another wood I've never seen. Whatever well carved.

A good looking dog, keep up the carving and in a year you will not be able to tell them from a real dog....happy carving.

Glad to see you carving again.....but I like your knives too! I still haven't worked my courage up to try a dog yet.

Great dog, Ron. The good thing about these dogs is they don't have fleas, termites maybe but no fleas

G'day Ron,
glad to see you carving again, he sure is a cutey, and fine detail on such a small project. Thanks for sharing, and I hope things are going well for you.

Nice looking carving on the dog. My experience with mesquite is it is quite hard must have been a job to do but the results looks like it was worth it. Thanks for sharing

Great job Ron! I always thought that mesquite was something that you bar-b-qued with. But to tell you the truth it's purpose seems a lot better served, carved!

Did he play up on you Ron? He looks as though he has been reprimanded. Good carving with great expression. Joe.

Hi John,

Thank you. I'm surprised he has any ears. They started off long like Spaniel's ears and slowly got smaller.
