| | Re: Starting a new project Thanks Bob,
I am sorry for being slow on finishing this , I have become somewhat attached to it. And I know as soon as I finish I will have someone ask for it. And at this point well I have found myself really slowing down on the work. But I have decided to add something to the outside edge so I can spend more time on it .
Anyway a couple of perspectives and the update.

Selfish is NOT a four letter word! It's not even a bad word but it is a word that means it's your turn for a change.
It's very very OK to say, "This one is MINE!"
Susan
The two side views are beautiful. I hope you hang that somewhere where the viewer can move around the piece to see inside that wonderful depth.
Don't put this one over the fireplace ... it should be near a hall corner or doorway. |

| | Re: Starting a new project I know I have been slow with getting this finished , but today I guess I had the urge to get it done.
The carving is now finished , I have some light sanding to do , ok a lot of sanding to do , but the cuts are done. Then the finish to be added .
For those of you who seen this last weekend I made a lot of little changes and brought the hair out of the forehead , it no longer looks like it sits up , but comes out of the heads. I changed the younger girls mouth and gave her teeth under the upper lip.
Layered the hair so it looks more natural and slimmed the younger girls frame. I think you will like the changes.
Whit the hair changes there are a lot more shadows which now give an almost golden tint to the hair.

| | Re: Starting a new project I've been following along and learning some great tips throughout the threads. You take on some challenging projects Garry, and come out with an amazing result. The design on the frame suits the picture nicely. I have to give your credit as its not easy putting your work out there for feedback, however, the end product definitely benefitted. Well done.

| | Re: Starting a new project Thanks Patrick,
I am at a spot with this carving I have to set it aside for a while. I have lost my picture program and paint will cause it to distort, so I am giving it to you sideways.
I hope you like it as I have added some color and it is almost finished except for the last coat of stain.
There is no paint , except for a little pigment of blue ,whihc I combined with the clear danish oil. The other tones are combination of danish oil.
