Default stage fright

here's a choir girl I'm doing in the wood carving class i go to i just need to refine the hands and arms any tips on how to do the face at the moment it looks more like a boys the wood through the hand and neck area is all over the place the grain is running up the carving but where the hand is it runs across the carving

thanks I still have a long way to go doing the hair,face,neck,hands,feet,arms and the paper the girl is holding long list isn't it i'm more or less happy with the body but it needs refiningBouncing S
