That is a fantastic job! I really like the way you created different color with the stain. I like natural wood finish (stain vs paint) when you can do it. You certainly did a great job on this one.

Thank you for your kind comments. I am quite happy with the results.

Nancy ... the edge rope is carved, same type of wood as the Monkey's Fist I did for that friendship staff a couple of years ago, Butternut. Does a great job on rope work, and burns so nice, you can hardly tell the difference between it and real hemp rope.

Greg, no stain on it, just a clear finish...... mix of 50% BLO, 25% Clear Gloss Spar Varnish and 25% Turpentine. The dark effect on the hull, masts and spars, is the burning.
