Default Spitfire Woodburning - WIP

Hi Everyone,

I decided to try doing a burning of a Spitfire, once I have done this one and worked out the quirks, I plan on doing a larger one for my brother on his birthday.

Good looking Spit...! Are you going to add colour? Just curious. Looking good.

Thanks Ash & Bob,

Once it's completed I'll post it in the Purography section where it belongs.

I think I'n going to let this one stand as a straight burning Bob. Right now I'm creating a dark halo from the edges of the wood coming up towards the plane itself and leaving white inbetween. I think this will make the burning itself "pop" more.

Thank you both for your kind comments.

Linda

Oh wow, my favourite WW2 fighter! Great work, and I, too, think it will look just great as a straight burning. Very old-timey look.

Wow! Thank you for your encouragement. I'm really enjoying doing this one because it is so outside what I normally do. I've decided that when I do the final rendition I'll have the wood oversized to the picture as I want to burn an outer layer that will act like a mat, leave a sliver of clear and then the "halo" that I'm doing on this one, so that when I frame it, it'll look complete. This one will be used as a sample for my classes. I should have this one done by the weekend.

BTW, I can't take credit for the drawing. I found a picture, traced it and then burned it. I'm a terrible drawer type of gal.
