Here's the top of a stick I just finished. No carving, just stripped sanded, stained and varnished. It was a maple sapling I cut while clearing a hiking trial. The "head" is part of the root ball. I had to cut off and round over an extended root to get the head shape, but all the other features were already there under the bark, dirt and moss. I do have a question for suggestions........should I leave the "eyes" as they are or insert either glass human or reptile eyes? 10mm or 1/2" would be just right to drill and mount. Al |

Al, For my 2 cents and taste, I'd leave it as is. It sure is one narly, nobbly stick and it would seem a shame to spoil Mother Nature with fake eyes. It kind of looks like it could be one of E.T.' s family members. Perhaps his little brother.lol Elliott |

Looks like Mother Nature did the work for ya, I like it the way it is without adding anything. Super find. Kathy

Hi Al, I agree with Elliott, my 2 cents worth is leave it as is. I feel if you put artificial eyes you would cheapen it. Just my opinion. Merle

I agree with all the above. When nature hands you a piece as nice as that, don't mess with it!

Hi Al, Great stick. I'm with the rest, it's perfect the Mom Nature wanted it.
