Default Some small progress on the bass

Well, here's the result of two more days worth of playing with colors. It's getting to where I want it, but still has a ways to go. I might just have to hit this with the poly at this stage and then work some more colors onto it for depth. Something has to be done around the eyes, also.......maybe some acrylic clear.

One more thing...these flat acrylic colors are rather dull and lifeless untill the gloss coat goes on, then they seem to come to life. Gotta works with a bit of imagination with these paints and hope imagination and reality meet when the finish is applied.

What a great carving, are you air brushing?
What ever you are doing it looks great to me.
Looking forward to seeing it in the finished state.

Thanks, Bill. I've airbrushed up till now, but once I get the belly and jaw where I want, it will be hand brushing on the scale tipping and the dorsal fin and spines........also around the eye.

Ron Laudenslager just sent me a great photo of a nice bass that a client of his caught in Illinois. I think I'll incorporate some of those features.

A bass out of basswood.

AL, you are close for sure, but know a long ways to go.
That is one fantastic looking bass and will fool most people in not being one from a taxidermist.
My hat is off to you sir!
