Default Snapping turtle hiding in there

Been down for a few weeks but back to carving again. First piece I looked at had a snapping turtle trying to get out, so here it comes. I'll post the finished turtle in a couple of days, hopefully.

Forrest, its a piece of black walnut burl and about as hard as my head. I'll probably have him done either later today or tomorrow. I love looking at a piece of wood and seeing something looking back. Wife thinks I'm a little out of it, because I see things in wood, but if I look long enough I usually find something hiding in there waiting for me to carve them out. Have a great day, Dan

Me too, yep looks like the beginnings of a turtle to me. Just be careful he doesn't take a bite out of ya. Looking forward to seeing the next update. Glad to see you back!

Thanks Kathy, its great to be back. He didn't take a bite out of me, but he sure was wiggling around while I was carving him.

Thanks Robert. I use mallet tools and palm tools only except I did use a grinder to round off the top.
